This trail is popular for a good reason. Not too long, close to the highway, and great views at the lake.
Parking is hard to find in the main lot. Many people had to park along the road because the lot was full.
The trail is in good condition considering how many people hike it. It was relatively crowded on the trail but not to the point where it was slowing down the pace. I saw about one group every 4-5 minutes on average. There are some rocks and roots, but they didn't get in the way too much to reduce the pace. It was dry and dusty. There appeared to be more elevation gain closer to the lake that did slow down some hikers. Many blueberries were ripe all along the trail, especially closer to the lake in more open areas.
About 90% of the trail is under the tree cover, but there are some great views of the surrounding mountains in a few places closer to the lake. Very few bugs were present. It took me about an hour each way going at a moderate to fast pace.
