Domerie Divide Trail — Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025

Went on a 13 mile loop with King the hiking dog. Up the Domerie Divide Trail from the Kachess Ridge trailhead, then left on the Domerie Peak Trail, past the Mt. Baldy trail to Thompson Peak and beyond to just below S.
Peak of French Cabin Mountain, then left just before the peak, past French Kiss and the west peak of French Cabin, and finally left at Kachess Ridge trailhead, which took me back to the trailhead. 13 miles. >4500 elevation gain.

It’s a lot of very steep up and down. Good views of the Teanaways, Stuart Range, and Alpine Lakes. But every peak has significant elevation gain and then drop off after. I definitely underestimated the total elevation, and how hard it would be to keep going up and down.

I got to the trailhead just before 8, on a cool, unseasonably cloudy day, and I was the first car. I did not see a soul until I got down to Kachess Ridge trail and was overtaken by two mountain biking parties.

Would not want to do this when it’s hot or sunny.
