Lake George — Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025

Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise

We did an overnight stay, starting at 11:30am on Tuesday. It was sunny and hot, but there were plenty of pockets of shade. The road portion was gradual, and passing park staff went slowly to keep dust down. There is a bike rack at the trailhead to look for as a landmark (or if you bike the road). The trail from the trailhead to the campsite was a steady climb, and just when I’d reached my limit we were there. Bear pole was easy to use, bathroom was in good shape, and it was easy to access the lake to get water. There were many blueberries. There didn’t seem to be much spots to lounge by the water. We day hiked to Gobbler’s Knob on Wednesday morning, and it was mostly in trees. It was well worth the trip! This was one of the best views of Tahoma I’ve experienced.
