Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail — Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025

Central Washington > Wenatchee

We biked this trail but all the info applies to hikers. Our round trip from Lincoln Rock State Park including the spur to Kirby Billingsley Hydro Park was 30 miles.

Construction/Detour: The southern bridge across the Columbia River is closed for construction (through Nov 2026 per the sign). There are great detour signs on both sides of the river and we didn't get lost at all. BUT, the detour takes you through town on roads/sidewalks.

We parked and began at Lincoln Rock State Park (Discover Pass required). It was a 5.5-mile bike ride on the Rocky Reach Trail to get to the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail. Both these trails are paved with rolling hills. There were signs along the Rocky Reach Trail about a recent mountain lion sighting in the area and the speed limit on this trail is 15 mph. Once on the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail, the speed limit is 10 mph.

Both trails are very popular with people walking and biking, but the west side is much busier than the east side. In the congested areas around Wenatchee Riverfront Park, the bikes are separated from walkers, which is really nice. We biked out to Kirby Billingsley Hydro Park (a 3.2-mile spur off the south end of the trail). This park is quiet with a nice beach area and some benches for enjoying the view.

There are numerous trailheads, bathrooms, drinking fountains, pieces of public art, views, places for kids to play, river access points, the list goes on. Really impressed with this trail and highly recommend it.
