We hiked to the ridge above Marmot Pass and spent the night. All the recent commentary about the road and trail conditions were accurate. It got warm on the way up and we drank plenty of water all the way. If you do go up high to camp you can filter at a trailside spring as you pass the last camps at Camp Mystery just before the final switchbacks and climb to Marmot Pass begin. We had a good evening up there and the smoke was not bad, but could be seen in the sunset and sunrise the next morning. Hopefully we'll get rain up that way soon!
