Friends and I hiked Lake Serene after we failed to complete it last year. The lake and the surrounding area looked wonderful with the cloud cover and rolling fog today.
As other trip reports have mentioned, the terrain can be a little rough! Rocks can be slippery and there were some sections that required me (5') to make a waist-high step up. I felt the most comfortable using my hands to steady myself, but hiking poles would've saved my poor knees a ton on the descent.
Also as mentioned in other trip reports, please practice leave no trace principles! Unhappily, the trail was littered with TP and doggie bags.
Parking lot was near empty (<5 cars) when we arrived at 6:40am and full when we left at 1-ish.
