We decided to check out the fairly new Olsen Creek trail that we worked on last fall. Arrived at the Y TH at 8:45 and one other car in the lot.
Trail to the viewpoint on the Hedgehog Trail is in great shape. Its smooth with a mild incline. Supposedly you can see the San Juan Islands but all we saw was the PNW fog. We ventured on to the Lion's Mane loop -- its a nicely maintained trail but not smooth like the Hedgehog trail-- it has a few dips- good for the cyclists. We think there could be pretty good views on this loop on a clear day.
This is a very nice multi-use trail. We didn't encounter any ither hikers, but saw a few cyclists and one horse rider.
There were a couple of owls perched close on the Hedgehog trail -- think one of them didn't like us taking so many photos as the first one swooped off over me and the next one dive bombed our hiking companion.
We used the very nice facility at Bloedel park mentioned in the write up. Gps logged 8 miles

Great pic of the owl. I've seen them a couple of times but they never sat still long enough for me to take a photo.

Thanks - it was surprising how long this owl stayed on the branch
