FS 21 into the hike has a fair amount of washboard, but not too mnt potholes. The Nannie Ridge Trail to Sheep Lake is well-established, and well-worn. (I rated it with “minor obstacles” for the rocky, rooty sections that look like they might double as a stream bed in spring.)
Sheep Lake itself was the highlight of the trip; it was even warm enough to jump in for a dip without shrieking.
Most of the trail is in mature forest. When it pops out, there are views of Mount Adams and perhaps the very top of Mount Rainier, as well as Goat Rocks and Old Snowy. We did a simple overnight, but are inspired to go back to the area and explore further after talking to others.
