Tradition Lake Loop, Big Tree Trail — Sunday, Sep. 14, 2025

I've been very limited by hip pain (Piriformis syndrome) so I'm revisiting all the flat hikes that I've generally avoided in the past. 

These trails are perfect for a cloudy day. We only saw a few runners and hikers along the way. The small remnant of old growth adjacent to the Big Tree is quite beautiful and amazing that it was never logged considering how thorough logging was everywhere else.

Just west of the big tree and just along the trail is the remains of a fire which occurred about 2 weeks ago. Looks like the fire was about an acre or two. Fortunately it only burned in the understory and not in the canopy. Not sure how it started. Still smells like a fresh fire.
