We had a great time today hiking Mount Pilchuck. You’ll start this hike in a magical forest with lots of stairs. Lots and lots of stairs. They didn’t bother me until the way down. Once you leave the forest, you’ll be on a rocky trail to the top. Big rocks, Little Rocks, boulders, gravel, etc. The boulder fields might be my favorite part. They are beautiful and The fall foliage is just starting towards the top in the blueberry bushes. A few blueberries left to pick but not many. Once you pass the “rock wall” rock, you are almost there. We made it to the lookout, had lunch and enjoyed the view. The smoke made it hard to see some of the far off peaks but it was still lovely and clear right at the lookout, didn’t smell smoky either. My 5 year old loved looking at all the old photos in the lookout. The way down the rock scramble was little tricky with more hikers around, but we did have some help from some nice hikers helping my 5 year old off one of the bigger boulders. Thank you! We loved chatting with all the hikers, too. There are some slippery rocks on the way down. There is grit on some of the rock surfaces and with the rocks being wet, we had to watch our footing. We saw lots of hikers but also spent a lot of time without seeing anyone. Overall 1 hr 50 min to the top. 45 minutes at the lookout and 2 hours down. A very enjoyable day. Highly recommend!
