A beautiful early-fall hiking day on this reliably rewarding, easy-access, well-maintained trail. Our party of two got the last spot in the lot when we arrived a little after 9 on a sunny September Saturday. A good number of friendly people and dogs on the trail, but it never seemed too crowded. Beautiful fall colors are emerging on the hillsides. There was some residual wildfire smoke at the top, but nothing bothersome. Four hours RT on the trail, plus a 45 min lunch at the lake, returning to the car a little past 2P.
