Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area
Flagstaff Point

After crossing over to Kiket Island I took the North Trail that unlike the South and Kiket trails, is a path through the forest rather than a road. It drops down to the tombolo that connects to Flagstaff Point. For the return trip I went up the center of the island on the Kiket Trail. All the trails are in good condition and the tide was quite a ways out so there was no problem coming and going on the east tombolo as far as water on the trail goes during winter high tides.

There are nice views in the area-Mount Erie, Skagit Island and the Deception Pass bridge. The wildlife was seagulls, crows, herons and kingfishers. I saw about twenty other hikers-all were spread out.

The vault toilet was a little dirtier than usual and out of toilet paper.
