Trip Report

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West

I can't believe I'm writing a trip report for a nature trail on hwy 2, but the trail is actually delightful.  I've driven by it for years and scoffed at a falls under a freeway, but the loop trail is just fantastic.  Well done interpretive signs, great variety of large trees, and a beautiful cascading river.  The warning signs make a big deal about a bridge being out, but it was trivial to get around with the low water.  This isn't a destination trip, but it's a great stop on your way to somewhere else.  I could do without the "God is Great" vandalism that was carved into the brand new handrail (generally I can't think of a time someone's impromptu carving has improved the look of natural wood), but I guess at least it wasn't cursing.  Overall I highly recommend making this a leg stretching stop sometime your traveling over hwy 2.
