this hike is similar to the sequalitchew creek trail in dupont; basically a straight out and back kind of trail. the trailhead i started from is on the bottom of the trail at alder st, from there it is pretty much an uphill walk, in the beginning the gradiant is not too bad but slowly it gets a little steeper, although it is still not too bad.

but what a beautiful place to be! you are at the bottom of the gulch, walking on a dirt trail next to the creek and surrounded by all kinds of different greenery; really satisfying and relaxing. i did not see much wildlife but i know owls are here so i am always looking for them.

towards the top there is a trail on the left side, i usually pass that and continue to where the trail becomes a "y". taking either trail leads to dead ends w trails leading up to neighborhoods. on the way down i do take that side trail (now on the right) this is an uphill hike with some switchbacks and a million stairs to go up! it will lead to the top where puget park is and this is the other trailhead to the trail. so you can start either way.

i walked about 2.5 miles today taking both trails at the end, going up to puget park and back down. at the lower trailhead there is a small overgrown picnic type area that you can explore a little as well. another great place to walk in tacoma!
