The road to the trailhead is mostly paved and the last two miles of unpaved road are in great shape. There were two extra cars at the parking lot at 9am, one was remaining on our way back around 4pm. We only meet one pair of hikers near the lookout structure as they were on their way back.
The berries are gone but the fall colors are on. The views become awesome as soon as you reach the burn area and the translation on the ridge from the lookout is a must. Views at the end are spectacular.
The air quality was low and we could see the Labor fire east in full action. There are no streams to get water so we packed a lot. We used almost 4 liters per person. They were extra necessary due to the smoke in the air.
This was an awesome hike for solitude and great views despite the poor air quality.
