Somehow in my many visits to Wallace Falls State Park I’ve never hiked this trail and hoping this trip report inspires others to not make the same mistake!
The Greg Ball trail is very well maintained - way fewer rocks and roots than the main trail along the river to the waterfalls. Definitely a longer hike (we clocked 9 miles round trip) but it never gets extremely steep and I found that delightful. Much more solitude and plenty of shade and a beautiful lake.
Also the composting toilet just on the beginning of the Greg Ball trail is truly divine. It sells lovely and had TP and hand sanitizer. Not kidding!
