I've been hiking up Greider Lake for many years, and I've always been interested in Boulder Lake that's next to it. Once you walk down the two mile, mostly flat road to the Greider Lake trailhead, you will also see the sign for Boulder Lake. For some reason, washington trails does not list it.They only list another Boulder Lake somewhere out by Arlington.
Anyway, I did take the detour for boulder lake this time in the beginning of September. There were definitely mosquitoes on the lower part. But once I got up into the mountain, there were not any. I was super impressed because they've done so much work on these trails. And they put in all the new bridges. Even boulder lake has a few bridges.
I was all alone. It was really beautiful. But unfortunately, I forgot it was a 14 mile hike and I was probably two miles short of finding the lake. I just want to say that it is doable and the trail is in great shape. I am also very impressed with the road to the sultan basin where we park our vehicles, it's the best kept road I've ever been on. If you decide to veer off and do boulder lake probably a good idea to camp out since it is a fourteen mile hike. I thought of taking my electric bike on the flat part of the trail to greider lake. It is four miles round trip to the actual trailhead, and boulder Lake is six miles round trip to its' trailhead. A bike could get you there faster with minimum up and down areas. But I also find it very meditative, just walking along it. Hopefully, this helps with anybody thinking about doing Boulder Lake. I used to hear that the trail was not maintained and difficult to navigate with all the brush, But now that is not an issue.

Unfortunately bicycles are not allowed on the trail, not even the flat part up to the old trailhead. I had the same idea before but that dream was quickly squashed when I read the signs.

Boulder Lake is worth the hassle getting there, I was up there once with the family when you could still drive to the TH. Beautiful lake, fish and huckleberries and you might have it to yourselves.
