Scatter Lake — Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025

North Cascades > Methow/Sawtooth

The unpaved portion of Twisp River Road is bumpy at times but any vehicle could make it to the trailhead. There is a clean toilet at the trailhead and a small parking lot with extra space along the entry road. The trail briefly joins up with the Twisp River Trail, but the proper route is marked with wooden signs. The trail is in good shape all the way to the lake but there are some areas that are inherently steep and rocky. There is a cute little campsite in the meadow just before the final climb to the lake. Water along the trail is quite limited especially for the first few miles. The fall colors are amazing right now, and the larches are at or near peak color. The lake basin is beautiful with many places to camp. On Sunday, there was a light dusting of snow in some areas.
