We arrived at the trailhead around 10:20am and there were only two other cars in the lot. The road was fine for my Subaru Impreza, but there are some bigger potholes and rocks, so be cautious with lower clearance vehicles. The pit toilet just up the trail is in good condition besides the fact that the lid isn't attached, so make sure to put it back when you're done. There is no TP available, so bring your own.
The trail is in incredible condition all the way up. The fall colors are stunning, and the chickadees and nuthatches were very chatty. It was quite a smokey day and my eyes and nose are still recovering from it, but we could see quite far and still think the trip was absolutely worth it. There was hardly anyone else on the trail, and we were spaced out enough that we each got the summit to ourselves when we arrived.
There is no water on this trail, so bring enough for the whole trip.
We got back to the car around 3:15pm and the lot still only had four cars at most. A perfect day for this gem!
