A beautiful sunny fall day to hike up to the lookout at Mt. Pilchuck. There was some smoke haze in the distance, but I still appreciated the views, especially of Mt Baker.

It was quite crowded at the top, even on a weekday. But there were many sections of trail where I was walking alone and could stop to appreciate the stillness of nature. I heard and saw a pika scurrying about.

The trail is in good condition, and all the steps and turnpikes installed by WTA crews look amazing! Thank you! There are a few wet and muddy patches. And some of the boulders were wet and slippery - I saw a couple of people slip and nearly fall.

The toilet is open, but no TP (of course). Road is in good condition, with just a few small potholes.  Plenty of parking. My Garmin registered 5.5 miles round trip.
