St. Cloud is one of my favorite understated places in the gorge though it’s a place most people just drive on by on their way to somewhere more grand. It’s a very short loop with picnic tables, but I love the views across the Columbia River, and the apple trees makes such interesting shapes and colors.
WTA volunteers restored the short gravel loop using funding from a National Forest Foundation grant to purchase materials and pay for the planning and coordination of the work.
Friends Of The Columbia River Gorge are leading the effort to do restoration work to bring back native plant communities here and at nearby, Sams Walker.
