Trip Report

Deception Creek — Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
King Bolete

This is what I get for not reading trip reports.. at mile 2.5 there’s a blowdown hell that would take fairly intensive climbing to cross.. on a rainy day like today it seemed difficult to impossible with all the slippery logs and mud. Also I’m still nursing a messed up knee that isn’t so good at deep squats, etc.

So, a shorter hike than usual, but I wasn’t really complaining considering how wet we got in those 5 miles. Also we had time to go home and make vegan “just egg” scramble with all the porcinis and bear’s tooth mushrooms we found.

Very pretty trail for a rainy fall day, just watch your step on those log bridges when it’s wet!

This bridge had a bit of a lean to it
Massive bear’s tooth
Yummy scramble
