Got a good day, so I hiked up to upper Crystal Lake. The trail is in good shape. There is some snow (1 to 3 inches) starting before the lower lake, then intermittent up to the upper lake. Micro-spikes are not needed, though I did use mine, while hiking down, near the upper lake and below the lower lake for a short distance. Being old, I did not want to chance slipping if I could help it.
I hiked all the way around the upper lake. The trail is pretty good, except at the far end of the lake. There are boulders to cross over and with snow in the rocks the trail is hard to follow for a couple hundred yards.
I spotted over a dozen other hikers. Some of which probable went to Crystal Peak, while others went to the lakes.
Later this week more rain is coming and possibly snow in the upper elevations, like Crystal.
