The trail at Carkeek was in great condition and not yet muddy, with gorgeous fall foliage. We came looking for salmon but didn’t see any, possibly because it was high time and not a great time to jump upstream in Piper’s Creek. We did, however, see a TON of wigeons between the land and the spit of sand that separates the creek from the sound. I can always count on Carkeek for a lovely golden hour hike!
