Me-Kwa-Mooks Park Trail Map

This a very nice, mostly gentle, trail system, though a maple and fir forest. It is great for kids and those wanting to do some calm forest bathing.

The trails in Me-Kwa-Mooks Park are along the hillside at the east edge of the open field. One trail starts at the northeast edge the lawn and the other trail leaves at the south end of the treeline. The trails climb gradually and meet together after a short distance. Continuing up the hill there are a choice of right-turn options, all of which go to the upper trail and all of which can be used to make loops. The few steeper sections of trails in the park are short (10-20 yards). Heading south, on the upper trail, which generally traverses the hill, you will reach SW Jacobsen Rd. For the longes trail loop in the park, turn west at the junction before the trail drops down to SW Jacobsen. This takes you to the edge of the park and onto a neighborhood lane (56th Ave SW). Walk one block north, then re-enter the woods on the trail at the end of SW Oregon St and you will be back to the open field of Me-Kwa-Meeks. WTA work parties have brushed and rehabilitating the tread on all of the main trails in the park.

The forest in Me-Kwa-Mooks Park has a great canopy, but it is not health due to a huge amount of ivy and blackberries. A neighborhood group is working to restore the forest and plant native plants. If you are so inclined to help, cut the runners of the ivy growing up the trees.
