Oh my goodness! What a fabulous early fall day hike. The leaves are absolutely brilliant today. A torrential rainstorm the night before left the forest crisp and clean dripping with fresh, vibrant damp air. There was a slight cloud cover and the path was quite wet but manageable. A couple of new blowdowns from the weekend windstorm and we easily climbed over them. The creek crossing are easy and quite fun. This is just an immensely satisfying six mile hike. The trail is easily navigable. Just be sure and turn right after taking in the view on the grand arched bridge. We booked it the three miles up to the little tree covered grove along the rivers edge. Sat and had a quick lunch. Then our group enjoyed a leisurely and meditative walk back. Really slowing down and taking in the vibrant fall colors, the 🍄 and the fantastical moss covered forest. A truly delightful day.
