Wasn't sure we could even go on this hike as the Ranger stations were closed, Sleeping Lady desk said the trailhead road was closed.
Well, the trailhead road is/was open and snow free, although rough but possible for most any car to go up it. We started from the trail head at 11 and made it to the lake at 2:30.
After the first river crossing the trail got snowy and by at the 2nd bridge, by the boulders, the trail was quite icy and stayed icy the rest of the way to the lake. I put on micro-spikes here.
There were several people in sneakers, one sad person's sweat pants were soaking wet was sliding down the icy trail. Only a few people had micro-spikes. I would not have continued pass the 2nd bridge without micro-spikes, I'm not sure how people did it. Not for me!
Any ways, the day was a beautiful crisp fall day, the lake was amazing. sadly we had to leave too soon to get back to the car before it was too dark. We left at 3:15 and made it back to the car at 6; pretty dark by then.
