Edmonds Marine Walkway — Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

Quick walk along the Edmonds Marine Walkway trails Sunday morning in the sunshine.  We did just a couple messy laps to get some miles and enjoy the views and sunshine.  There is significant street parking plus a free lot on the south end at Marina Beach park.  Restroom options along the route include sanicans at Marina Beach, full restrooms at the marina plus full restrooms at Brackett’s Landing - all were open and in decent condition today.  No trail condition issues specifically though we did see a couple very close calls with pedestrians just completely oblivious to the rail/transit traffic that runs through the area, “look, listen for safety”, which I suppose folks would benefit from doing even on remote hikes too I suppose.

Lots of super nice views out over the water, through the marina, over to the newly snow capped Olympics, south down the sound etc.  Lots of wildlife out, a bunch of heron, kingfishers, a couple seal near the marina, plus gulls, geese and humans out scuba diving, practicing their polar plunge swimming, out in kayaks fishing, etc, etc.  The one super nice wildlife surprise was a big juvenile bald eagle just hanging out on a street lamp on the bluff above Sunset Beach.  It was drawing quite a crowd of onlookers, both humans and the typical band of crow trying to harass it (except unusually they kept quite a distance.)  One of the local neighbors mentioned he’d seen it swat down several of the crows in the last few days, it was not having any of their shenanigans.  Many of the crowd didn’t know what it was and were referring to it as “him”, except… it was big and had super big talons so it was almost certainly a female.  So what everybody was out watching was basically a capable, confident teenage girl bald eagle not taking any nonsense from anybody - pretty impressive, perhaps inspirational.  A nice little walk with lots of beautiful views made even better with an opportunity to say hello to a bald eagle.

multiple transit options right next to the trail for those inclined
views west over the sound to the newly snow capped Olympics
