How awesome is WTA to host Volunteer Appreciation events like today's Pleine Air painting day at Meadowdale Beach Park, complete with access to the lower parking lot so we could lounge in camp chairs which we didn't have to lug 2.5 miles round trip!
Huge Kudos to Brandon for coordinating, and to our artist teacher, Shelby, who supplied us with art boards, cups, paint brushes, pencils and erasers, and adorable little WTA tins with our very own paints in magnetized holders so they wouldn't slide around.
About 20 of us enjoyed sunbreaks and cool, sunny conditions on the beach from 10-1. Among our dozen bird species were a lovely bald eagle, a belted kingfisher, and dozens of crows and gulls. We also had entertainment and inspiration in the form of Brandon's four-year-old artist who I took encouragement from and turned my pencil sketch into ... TA DA! Water colors.
Nice to see a few folks I worked with earlier in the year. And my college-aged daughter blew me away with her paint board. All in all a lovely morning with wonderfully deserving volunteers. WTA and the Mountaineers know how to do things right!!
