Great day hiking up Dickerman with Soaring Eagle, along with a ton of other people. Even ran into Kidz Won't Hike and crew unexpectedly. Probably due to some recent Nov reports and the great weather today, there were lots of hikers on the trail.
Arrived at TH at 9am, about 70% of main spots filled. Restroom is closed and taped off. Trail is about half snow free and has consistent snow around 4000'. We never put on gaiters or microspikes on the way up as there is a well defined trail right now. About a mile of the trail is basically a shallow running river, so definitely need waterproof boots. Saw some people in trail runners, I doubt they stayed dry. It was somewhat icy on the higher elevation sections of wet rock, need to be careful here. For the last mile or so, there is plenty of snow, maybe a foot. Summit was busy when we got there around 11:30, but lots of room to spread out. Views of snow capped peaks all around were fantastic! We put on microspikes and pulled out poles for the hike down. We ended up cutting our rest at the summit short as the wind picked up and it got cold pretty quickly.
Stats: 8.3 miles, 4000' gain, 5:00 total time, 25 mins stopped time
Gear: Waterproof boots, poles, microspikes. Gaiters would be useful but we didn't use them.
