Eagle Peak Saddle — Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025

Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise
SO many mushrooms!

On what might be the last good day for this one, I cannot believe I experienced such beautiful weather, spectacular views, and light trail traffic! I pulled into a very sleepy Longmire at 7 am this morning. I walked across the suspension bridge (note: VERY icy/slick), and began the uphill trek. As a mycologist, I will not state my embarrassing pace, as I stopped every few feet to investigate the insane diversity of fungal friends currently out.

Snow conditions from last trip report are still holding true. Very little patches about 4600; definitely not enough for traction, even though they were frozen solid ice. After getting above the treeline, there were some icy patches in the shaded areas. Fine for getting up, but because of the steepness, I did put on spikes for the descent.

Four peak view today!! Outstanding. Only saw about half a dozen people as I was coming down (and two at the top just after me). Gorgeous hike, gorgeous forest, and gorgeous views!
