We were out on Mountain Loop Highway watching Coho spawn in side channels of the Sauk RIver and made a quick stop to North Fork Sauk Falls. Mountain Loop Highway itself from Darrington remains in good condition from maintenance work this year with some minor potholes present, most avoidable. FSR 49 also recieved maintenance and new rock this summer and is in excellent shape up to the NF Sauk Falls Trailhead.
Trail down to the falls is decent with 3 small trees down that are easy to step over. Slipery wooden stairs were the only obstacle for our toddler. It is a somewhat steep down and back trail though our 3 year old walked it mostly by himself.
Waterfall was spectacular like always after recent rains! Underrated site that is worth a stop when on Mountain Loop.
