I had been wanting to visit Meadowbrook Farm ever since I first saw the photo of elk in the mist there in WTA’s 2025 calendar.
And oh my goodness, we were not disappointed! As we were parking, just expecting to take a walk, I looked across the field and saw an entire herd of elk and practically shrieked with glee. There must have been over 120!

These beautiful creatures were minding their own business, grazing, lounging, and occasionally trotting after each other. There were a few babies, with their coats still all one shade of brown, as well as some 5- and 6-point bulls.

They were far enough in from the paved trail that we were able to safely watch them from various angles for about two hours. The higher-quality pictures we have are thanks to my husband’s camera’s good Zoom or to me taking phone photos through the binoculars.

What a magical afternoon.
