South Tiger Mountain Loop — Monday, Nov. 17, 2025

Issaquah Alps > Tiger Mountain
TMT is a Virtual Stream

We hiked South Tiger today because it was on our monthly hiking calendar. It was a lesson in perseverance and testing the quality of your rain gain. We pulled up to the roadside Th on Tiger Mtn Rd SE at 9:00 and 2 other cars were parked here.  There are no facilities here so plan to green door.  Our intention was to hike the South Tiger Mtn Loop but we bailed after hiking the new section after the South Powerline Trail, so completed a 5 mile out and back hike.  This was the most saturated I have ever seen the trail and in several places it was literally a stream.  There is one downed tree about 1/4 mile before the 5 way junction.  Most in our group took off their packs and crawled under. Trying to go over meant taking a long step down a very slick tree trunk. The stream after the 5 way junction caused several to get their boots wet.  Most of the fall leaves are down on the ground and fungi mushy and shriveled up.  We weren’t the only crazy ones on the trail.  One of my hiking group members ran into their neighbor and a soaked trail runner was heading back to the TH.  You know it’s time to head back to your vehicle when you can literally wring our your gloves.  Another memorable out in nature with amazing friends.
