We arrived at the trailhead around 9:30am and there were around five other cars in the parking lot. A small animal decided to ransack the toilet paper in the outhouse so much of it was confetti on the floor! Please close the door when you're done to keep this from happening. 😂

The trail overall is in good condition, with a few blowdowns that were easy to go under or over. We were hiking with a seven-month-old baby and my friend was able to carry her through the debris without issue. Some of the mud is quite slippery, as are the rocks in the stream crossings, so just be aware and careful. We made it all the way to the Pratt River Trail campground junction and had lunch, six miles round trip.

The mushrooms are out in force--so many vibrant colors! We also saw many woodpeckers and heard many other small birds. The moss and ferns were particularly stunning. After the recent rains, the water is flowing fast. We only got misted on; the real rain held off until we returned to our cars around 2:30pm.

I love this hike year-round!
