I added this on after Oxbow Loop, since I love all the gorgeous trees and moss along the trail, as well as the river access. There were also some cool mushrooms out today.
I parked in the large paved Middlefork lot, hiked the connector and walked across the Taylor River bridge to eat lunch at a picnic table in the sunshine by the Garfield Ledges lot, then returned to the parking lot the same way.
The trail was in excellent condition, just one small tree down that was a very easy step over. And I saw no other hikers so I was able to enjoy the trail in blissful solitude.
The main parking lot was full when I arrived, but there was plenty of space in the overflow lot to the right as you enter. Restrooms were open and the one I used in the overflow lot had TP. It also smelled a lot better than the one in the main lot (which I could smell all the way from the other end of the parking area!)
