Arrived at 8:30am to 5 vehicles in the parking lot but several were obviously from folks who were backpacking. Pit toilets at the TH were locked.
The trail is in great shape. Huge kudos to the dog parents for picking up their dog poop bags on the way down. I saw several on the way up and they were gone when I went down. Thank you!
For the three young men who were cutting switchbacks and looked confused when I suggested that they not do that, please take a moment to look up trail etiquette and “cutting switchbacks” to understand the damage being done, particularly when you step over branches placed to discourage that behavior.
This is often a very wet trail in winter and was wet today in all the normal places, but not terrible. There is one tree down across the trail just before you arrive at the lake, but at 5’4” I was able to step over it without challenge.
The trail was beautiful and easy today and not crowded.
