Trip Report

Mount Baring — Monday, Dec. 1, 2025

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West

Climbed Baring yesterday as team of 3.
Trails is very steep and rough, slippery sometimes because of frozen dirt, many fallen trees along the trail which makes ridge ascent very tough. Some good human marked trail with bright ribbons which makes navigation easier. Snow starts on top of the ridge. No snowshoes needed, but spikes were helpful on descent. Main couloir goes fine. Previous boot track made ascent easier, the trail was broken half way between the col and summit, we did it to the top. Used ice axe on the way down from the summit to the col. Extra caution is required on descent from the ridge to the base.
