Seward Park — Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

As the days get shorter, the hiking grandma drive time gets shorter and it's time now to explore the urban parks. Most people know this park, so it doesn't need a lot of description. There is a paved loop along Lake Washington with views across the water to big fancy houses and the Mercer Island bridge and rumor has it, to Mt Rainier, but not today. The best walking is on the trails that go thru the woods, actual nice trails, well signed and easier on the feet than cement. There are signs explaining that this is an old forest, I'm glad it's still here! The restrooms on the paved trail side are closed, but there are restrooms open by the parking lot and plenty of benches along the paved portion for a lunch stop. No Wile E. Coyote sightings, eagles overhead and few squirrels were the wildlife for the day.
