I drove out with the intention of going to the seasonal winter roadblock on highway 20 and then slowly making my way back while checking out stops. This is right next to the roadblock so I decided to try it out. I've passed this trailhead parking many times in the past and never realized what it was. The dam was pretty cool and worth going all the way down to see, in my opinion.
It was soaking wet rain around 39-41°F and fairly breezy in some parts. All the waters to be seen were raging fast. Despite the rain, it was a easy way down although there was one small downed tree which was not a problem to step over. I had the whole trail to myself and saw nobody else until I made it back to the parking lot.
