I took the Perimeter Trail that goes along above the water east of the bridge. At about 0.2 miles there is a downed tree completely obscuring the trail with a tangle of trunk and branches. It was rotten enough that I was able break several of them and step through and over the trunk. The trail drops down for a bit and then climbs up to a headland with a view of Cornet Bay and then winds down to the shoreline. At the junction I took the Summit Trail with a steep gain for 0.8 miles to where it comes out on the southeast side of the glacier scoured rock balds and the rail fence.
From there it was on to the Goose Rock Summit and cold wind. It was fairly clear and much appreciated after the storms experienced over the last several days. As the forecast said, the rain held off until a little after 1 PM so I stayed dry for the whole hike.
Other than the downed tree the rest of the trail is in good condition even with lots of debris which I could sweep aside with a trekking pole. I only saw two other hikers today.
