Arrived 11:30, at the fireplace by 12:30, and back to the trailhead before 1:30. Middle aged, middle fitness, hiking at a clip but stopping frequently to gaze at fungi, moss, views, and trees blowing in the wind. 😬
It was a Friday and there were a couple of other cars at the trailhead but I didn’t see anyone else until I was almost all the way down.
The trail had running water on it and showed minor signs of erosion, including some beautiful exposed yellow clay. I was glad to have poles on the way down. It wasn’t necessary to bust out the microspikes.
There was one downed treetop that I stepped a few feet off trail to get around, but otherwise the trail was free of obstacles. Lots of fresh sawdust - thank you trail crews!!
Keep an eye out for widowmakers - recent storms have shaken things up.
