Went up Cable Line today to check out West Tigers 3 and 2 with an out & back stop at Murat’s Bridge. This was a loop returning to lower Cable Line via the TMT and K-3 Trail and ended up being 6.25 miles with 2800 ft total elevation gain. My overall impression of trail conditions today was the further away from the trailhead I was, the better they were which I found odd. But maybe some of it is due to traffic and erosion. Basically, Cable Line and the TMT as it gets closer to Cable Line were the worst sections with mud and fallen debris to get around along the TMT. The West Tiger 2 Trail, K-3 Trail, and TMT sections around Murat’s Bridge were in great shape with maybe one log easily stepped over and one tree to go under. I only encountered other hikers in the first 45 minutes of my hike (Cable Line to WT3) while the next 2 hours were surprisingly in complete solitude. At the end I drove my collected trash to the receptacles near the toilets in the upper parking area.
Someone decorated the posts at the trailhead and WT3, which I thought was a nice touch and done with care to ensure it remains attached until they remove it. Happy Holidays!!
