Happy New Year! I decided the perfect way to start would be with a little hike close to home - LBA Woods fit the bill perfectly! I’ve lived in the Olympia Area for 8 years and had never been, but this will definitely be a regular spot for my dog and I.
There are tons of trails in the park, so you can out together your own route. There is even an off-leash trail for dogs! (We did not do that since my dog is a flight risk.) We tried to follow the Woods Loop on AllTrails, but missed some turns, leading to a 2.4mi trip instead of 2.9. There were a couple of blow downs, but they were easy enough to step over. It wasn’t really muddy, either. We saw a few people and dogs, but not too many. It was, after all, only 37 and somewhat drizzly! Parking is free and there is plenty of suave in the lot. The caveat is that during Little League season, this will get full and people will park on the street.
All in all it was a good little hike and a good way to kick off the year!
