Farrel-McWhirter Trail — Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
Runner Ducks and Sheep friend

Farrel McWhirter is a magical place that we visit often as it is so close to our home. The South Parking Lot had about 7+ cars when we arrived around 2pm.

All the ponies were out getting brushed by the volunteers. The barn was full of new volunteers learning the ropes in with the goats. Theo got in a good long pet with one of the big sheep who thoroughly enjoyed it. He leaned into the fence with his eyes closed. I got in some scratches too, surprised by how deep/thick their coat is. The runner ducks were in and out, the goat Thunder was in by Rosie, as was the miniature donkey.

We took the Lowland Trail to the Upland Loop Trail to the Perimeter Trail, to The Puget Sound Energy Powerline Trail to M.D. Nichols Memorial Trail back to The Perimeter Trail and finally, The Woodland Trail back to the south Parking Lot.

A beautiful dip into woods with visits to a whole farm of animals! 1.6 miles for an excellent winter reset.
