What a gorgeous day to be out on Hood canal. Not much I can add to the other trip reports. Yup, the trail is pretty unrelenting, which makes for great winter conditioning (basically 2000 feet gain in 2 miles). And the payoff is worth it. Also, make sure you visit the south viewpoint after doing all that hard work. It was so sunny and warm sitting on the bench there. No frost on the trail today. I saw 4 volcanos from the south viewpoint (Rainier, Adams, Mt. St Helens, and Hood?).
Lots of people coming up as I was going down, many with dogs.
