Arrived at trailhead just after 9am and parking lot was crowded, but not entirely full. When we left around 3pm, it was less than half full. We were welcomed by two Trailhead Greeters who had plenty of information and hot chocolate at a green table. This is definitely a hot spot for cross-country skiing.
The snowshoe trail that leaves directly from parking lot was our choice. We went out along the river and completed the loop. Snow is melting fast, which is easily observed by the flowing creeks you pass over and the water in the trail. Snow is covering 99% of the trail. Snowshoes are useful, especially when you get off the groomed trail as an adult will punch through without them. Snow is very icy, so spikes could be useful in some areas. Sledding could be fun, but might be more like bobsledding.
We had a wonderful time, saw very few other folks (much unlike Gold Pond) and the temps were pretty warm for January.
