Trip Report

Teanaway Butte — Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026

Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
Teanaway Butte by JTreeRC

Road was bare and dry. Only the last half a mile covered with icy snow. Gate was closed. We parked along the road.
Very cold and foggy the first half of the hike. Warm and sunny once above the clouds. Most of the trail covered with packed snow. Spikes were helpful. No need for snowshoes. 360 degree view on top.

Last time I parked along that road I got a bunch of beef from the locals who live down there. Seems they believe it's their own personal snowmobile trail and they've put signs up all over the place. I tried to argue it but based on the boundaries seems that until the gate is private land. Pretty annoying really.

Right before the gate, we noticed a 'Private Property' sign at the turn to a smaller road. We avoided that area and parked along Middle Fork Teanaway Road, which I believe is a public road.

If I had to make an educated guess, there’s about 150-200 feet from the gate to the property lines to the east. Also, the county road terminates at the forest service road and all the property abutting the forest service road are subject to the right of way of the forest service road. So, parking in front of the gate is plenty legal, as long as you’re on the forest service road. I’d obviously park as close to the gate as possible and I wouldn’t block the gate either.
