Lily and Lizard Lake Loop — Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area
A nice little bridge on the trail - Skip DeHennis

First hike of the year on a gorgeous day. Trail was in great shape. Muddy patches in a few areas but nothing unmanageable. We were able to step across the few little streams we had to cross.

We hiked the loop clockwise and made a side trek to Oyster Dome. Glad we did as that was the highlight of the trip. Next time I'd hike it counter clockwise, visit the lakes first, then head to Oyster Dome for lunch. The view there was amazing! And this time of year Lizard Lake was completely in shade so it made for a cold lunch setting.

We took Max's shortcut on the way up but I would probably take the long way around if I hiked counter-clockwise next time since there were a few steepish sections that would be tough on my older knees. But overall this was one of the nicer trails I've hiked on.
