Trip Report

Hurricane Ridge Snowshoe — Friday, Jan. 23, 2026

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast

Snow was hard enough that spikes are fine all the way to the top, not a single post hole - barely left any going off trail. Even deer tracks barely sunk in. Very icy, definitely want traction. Saw one person ski it, but that would take nerve with how lumpy and slippery it is right next to the trailside dropoffs. Snow all the way to the top with minimal gaps.

Road had a few rocks on it, but they were already gone by the time we left. Official word online (link in the description followed to the alerts page) was that the road is open Friday-Sunday weather permitting, and today the sign by the gate said the gate would be locked at 5pm.
